Internal/External Wholesaler

Hey guys very new here. Just made an account to ask about what wholesalers are and do exactly?

I work as an advisor under an older group. Not client service but not a true decision maker quite yet but I do handle the children and mutual smaller accounts for our main clients in correspondence and some ideas.

I wanted to know more about these wholesaler roles. Are they antiquated now and is there a good type to be? Considering looking at these roles after I chatted with the internal on a cold call. Actually like their products good alternative and something a little different.

Weve been talking a bit and are good contacts with each other and even grab beers (on their money haha) but he’s like 25 and making around 150-250k and it seems like for the 30-40 hours he works thats banana land.

any information on these roles such as day to day, career trajectory and some specifics I wouldn’t think about would be extremely helpful. I see some posts on here about the internal and external roles but there’s really a huge lack of updated info here and online in general. Thanks guys!
