Internally Transferring from west coast to east coast

How hard would it be to internally transfer from a top west coast group to a similar prestige group on the east coast? For example gs tmt sf to gs tmt ny.

I really dislike San Francisco and being the only one of my friends having to move to the west coast is a bit depressing. Everything that I hold close to me is on the east coast and I would like to be closer to those things as they will help me balanced out the harsh lifestyle. I aways imagined sharing an apartment with friends and hitting the bars together whenever we were free, instead of talking to techy random housemates about bitcoin.

More like who doesn’t Bars close before midnight, half the restaurants close before 4PM Streets are littered by human shit and needles Homeless roam the streets and shout at random passer by (also sf is in process of building new homeless shelters because they feel there need to have more homeless people in the city) And a higher living expense than NYC

Bars closing before midnight? Half the restaurants close before 4PM? We must be in different San Franciscos. Sure, are the homeless people a problem? Yes. But there is no need to make up or exaggerate information. We get it; you are not a fan.

I have seen GS TMT SF to NY transfers but morseo NY to SF. Depends on group tbh. Did you already finish the internship? If so, might be harder to lateral, whereas pushing for east coast group during last few weeks of internship is easier.

You will still get ny pe headhunting opportunities/emails. It will just be harder to interview during work days since you will need to fly out (this is assuming you're at a GS TMT SF/MS Menlo since other west coast shops don't really get NY PE headhunting). Remember there are still amazing west coast pe buyout opps.
