Hey guys, as an international in USA, I have come close to accepting the fact that my chances on staying in USA are really low. That being said, I am looking into different options such as Canada, UK, Australia, etc. I wanted to know the situation of UK because it seems to be the best active in terms of deal flow compared to the rest. As an international student, what are you odds of getting a job?

Pretty much any banks sponsors here. But it can be tough for you to get an offer if you don’t go to a target as London is already highly competitive given the need for continental European languages.
What about International students from targets in UK(Masters though) with no prior relevant work experience? Can other aspects(networking, languages, grades) beat the lack of experience during the recruiting process? Or will the student be at a disadvantage?
There's a disadvantage but if you can sell the things that you have been doing well and are able to build yourself a story for "why IB" and have a CV that shows you're not a time waster then sure should be do able.
Also, start early.
If you have no work experience you definitely have to apply for a summer internship, and not a FT position, at the end of your Master's programme
Yes, but IB is highly competitive try to get work experience ASAP, even if it’s not IB and it’s accounting that’s fine. No work experience is a bit of a red flag and I would assume you have never worked in a professional environment
I would mitigate the target school barrier if he goes to a good US school (HYPS, Duke, Columbia, Chicago, etc.) - some people definitely pull this off. And the language barrier seems to be more of an issue for the buy-side than IB (a lot of banks have local offices in the main markets anyway)
Yeah but these are target schools no? I meant target schools in the US.
Whilst languages are not a requirement or as sought after by banks, they still try to hire a diverse body that over time will be able to cover European clients across European countries. Exceptions may be EBs with regional coverage (ie GHL).
Are London offices changing their policies towards EU citizens who do not study in the UK? What is the situation right now?
I feel like this is always in flux. but I think it’s like post 2020, if you’re not already working in the U.K. then you’ll need a work visa even if you’re from the EU. something like that
