Internship Experiences

I noticed there's a lot of boutique threads surfacing around this time, so I apologize in advance for another.

For those of you who interned as a Soph at a small boutique... a. what was your experience like/were you taken seriously as an analyst? b. if it was un-paid, did they try "harder" to hook you up with some contacts for next summer? c. Are you guaranteed a BB SA the next summer as long as you don't completely suck?

I am a pretty solid candidate (had interviews/superdays with well known banks as a soph, high gpa, good semi-target) and want to know what to expect for next year's recruiting from past experiences.

I searched many threads already and didn't find anything meaningful. Thanks again.

Not really sure you're ever taken too seriously as an intern or even a full-time Analyst for that matter... certainly not as seriously as you probably take yourself...

Thanks leveRAGE-I didn't mean the literal sense of guaranteed-but that it was very likely.

rufiolove-did you work at a boutique? If so, did they have you doing anything related to IB that can be intelligently talked about in an interview?

no i didn't work at a boutique... i am currently at a BB and my comment was more a joke than anything else... you get great experience and a lot of responsibility, but at the end of the day you are at the very bottom of the chain and everything rolls down hill... so don't expect that you will be able to avoid the printer fixing/faxing, random tasks because someone has to do it sometimes and it will end up being you at one point or another... people will respect you, but your opinions aren't often taken into consideration much in your first year, with the possible exception being in minutiae, and then as a more experienced analyst your thoughts will garner more attention.
