internship --> graduate role

Hi,

I am having a BB internship this summer and would also like to land a FT offer from some other banks. So I wanna ask do ppl usually go through the formal application process again in September? I heard that into the 5th, 6th week of internship, they try to shoot out their CVs to other banks.

oh btw, its the London office im talking about... if theres a difference...

Thanks

No, you do it beforehand. All the bb banks in london organise social events where their own interns are asked to bring their buddies from other banks. This is a poaching event where you make contact with the guys at other banks and can zap your cv before the actual September process unfolds. If you impress the guys at these events (an if your buddy is well regarded where they are and vouch for you), you've basically got one foot in the door. Good luck.

Indeed, last year all the BB banks organised social events for their interns and 'encouraged' them to bring along their friends that are interning at other firms.

I attended a MS intern social event and during the party they even held a presentation regarding 'early bird applications' (for the non-MS attendees)! I remember the deadline for applying through such 'fast-track' programmes to be somewhere around the beginning of August, so whilst you are still in the middle of your internship.

If you are in IBD, you need to come up with a really good excuse though, in order to leave the office early for attending parties thrown at another bank...

One thing: securing a job offer from your current firm is definitely something what the other banks are looking for, keep that in mind.
