Internship in diff. city as freshman?

I'm a freshman and go to school in a medium sized US city and live in a different medium sized US city. I am thinking I may get an offer for a wealth management internship at Merrill Lynch this summer where I go to school, but I'm interested in what I should do if I don't get one back home (although I'm thinking I will). Assuming my only option is to stay in the city where I'm at college, is it worth the expenses/missed summer of living in a different city away from family and friends to get the (almost certainly unpaid) experience of BB PWM if I want BB IBD upon graduation? I would have to pay for/split an apartment, etc.
