Internship Question

I am a freshman at a T20 semitarget looking to get into US EB/BB IB. I have heard that IB/PE internships as freshman, even at boutiques, are very hard to come by and look very good on the resume. I currently have a summer IB internship offer, but it is an investment bank in China. Would doing this internship be as beneficial as a US internship in terms of helping with IB SA recruiting in NYC/SF?

Personally, whenever I see internships in banking in China, I just think its a nepotism hire and that person didn't try hard enough for something in the states. You say your at a semi-target, with networking I think its possible to get a boutique internship in LA/NY/SF.

Not sure if this is better than nothing but that's my opinion.
