internships with sleep
Junior in college looking for an internship this upcoming summer. The problem is I also run track and so I'll need to be running all summer. My friend took a goldman internship a couple years back and loved it but said he didn't get much sleep.
What are the options that would allow maybe a couple hours a day to run and 8 hours of sleep a night. I'd be willing to work the other 13-14.
Should I go hedge fund or private equity etc...and what companies would be best?
Do you have to run during business hours with your team.... or do you have the option to run whenever you want to?
I can run whenever. i can run at 10 at night or 6 in the morning...whenever i can get a couple hours to myself.
Try maybe PWM, FYI- I do not too much about in that area besides that the hours are not as harsh...... maybe others can give u some comments
If you're interesting in banking/trading as a career you will probably have to give up track. I gave up martial arts...
I'll eventually be giving up track (after college) but for now I'm just looking for a division or company that allows for some work/life balance such that I don't need to work more than 13-14 hours/day.
do you really need to run ALL summer? some internships might end in early august and that would give you a few weeks to train...
It's 10 weeks. I'm sure you can go without running every day for 10 weeks.
rofl "work-life balance"... perhaps you're looking in the wrong field, have you considered accounting?

Don't listen to college kids like this...
Even if you're in the office 16-20 hours / day, you could probably get in a run each evening. As an intern, it's mostly face time anyway.
Just run on weekends, on nights you happen to get home early (11 or 12), or on early mornings (you won't have to be in until 9 at most places)
Sales and Trading should be give you enough time to run.
S&T? really?
yeah, he's right, S&T will give you time to run.
Yup, S&T will only be working you 10-12, maaaybe 14 hours a day, so fits your reqs well
