INVESTMENT BANK to TOP RANK SCHOOL
The one thing I am confused about is how do people, particular analysts in front office roles at investment banks, go to such great grad schools. I do not understand how they get in. I get they are at a great firm (i.e. JPM, GS) but I doubt they have the time to study for the GMAT/GRE, etc. After completing an internship as well as knowing many people who work at these firms full time, I do not understand if they get a ghost writer for their personal statements. I get they have good GPA's, since they needed it to break into these top tier firms, but I am so confused since I know they get average or bad standardized test grades.
also trying to think about does this apply to other grad schools (i.e. not MBA)
Your assumption that people working in front office roles get poor standardized test scores is inaccurate.
fair, obviously some are doing great, but you cant tell me they all are getting in the 95th percentile
I'm going to GS/MS/JPM next summer, and I'm taking the GMAT next semester since I have the extra time during school vs. during full time. The test scores last for 5 years. I know many friends who have done this, and I feel like that makes it easier to score in a high percentile since you can take + retake the test before you even start your SA.
