Investment Banking in Mexico - Any insight?
Currently a sophomore at an Ivy recruiting for SA 2022 but not entirely sure if I will get an offer so exploring other options given that I am native speaker in Spanish and actually hold dual citizenship. What is the recruiting process like for someone from the US? How is the networking scene like, and what are the difficulty of most interviews? The best info I found was from an old M&I article on how someone lateraled into IBD but this person was already a Mexico resident. If possible, would love to receive info or talk with anyone currently in Mexico IBD.
I mean... WFH from Cancun sounds a lot more fun than WFH from Chicago

Lots of BB’s have specific groups in New York that cover Latin American companies specifically. Being fluent in Spanish and or Portuguese is a must.
I know Barclays has a group in Mexico City. Unfortunately no idea about the recruiting process but thought I’d put that out there in case it’s helpful to have them on your radar. Someone told me a few years ago that they pay them in USD at the same base rate as other offices (i.e. a first year analyst makes US$85k) so they can afford to live incredibly well. It was a rumor though so take with a grain of salt.
