Investment Banking "Program" - Different?
Curious what people mean when they say this. I understand that analysts at big institutions are considered under analyst program, like Wells Fargo or something, then are promoted to associate. But people talk about their analyst years like an internship almost like "oh I got/did not get the return", then Associate like you're part of the team. I'm curious if there is a meaningful difference in being part of an analyst "program" versus being an analyst on day 1 at a small boutique or something. Are there better employment protections or formal training or something?
Hi,
I think it purely just depends on banks tbh. For the UMM I received an offer at for instance, based off the contract they previously gave me - you're an "analyst" for 18 months - could be group dependent within the bank?
The 18 months is essentially a trial, and at the end of the 18 month you're presumably made an associate or AN3. I'd also imagine it just means you're doing grunt work // pure grinding over that period.
how do u become an an3/asso after 18 months? did you come in as an2?
