Investment Banking Recruitment Cycle - UK Questions

So this is going to be my first post on here after reading a few posts over the last year - Hopefully I wont get flamed too hard but just like many of us here I am preparing and actively applying to this recruitment cycle in the UK for IB roles.

A bit about my background:

School - 
Undergrad -  Non target 
Masters - Semi- Target (Russell Group) - Just Graduated

Experience:

After undergrad by the grace of god got into Investment banking in Dubai with a boutique but left within a year to pursue my masters

1 Year Off-cycle M&A experience in a boutique shop in London working on live deals whilst completing my masters

Currently completing a summer internship at growth equity fund which is backed by a major sovereign wealth fund.

Now that we have gotten that part out the way I wanted to ask some of the experienced people here the following questions:

1- I don't really have my hopes up to secure something Bulge Bracket but hoping for something Middle Market maybe elite boutique - What are thoughts on my profile which I have explained above?

2- I have been speaking to many people within IB in London who are mentioning that referrals these days during these recruitment cycles aren't as effect as they once were - Is that true?

3- What are the best tips you have for this upcoming recruitment cycle other than the story, technicals etc

4- For those who are also in the trenches applying with me - please share any good whats app groups to join
