A bit late to the party, but I thought of it like so:
$100 perpetuity at 10% disc. rate = $1,000, so it's basically just one more $100 perpetuity pa.
hence it'll just be $1000 + $1,000 perpetuity = $11,000.
This might be the easier way to think of it without using any advanced maths.
