Is an intermship in GTB worth it if main goal is M&A?

Hello everyone
I have recently been contacted by a recruiter from a well known Spanish Bank to start the process to get an internship in their GTB. I currently have an internship offer in Corporate Finance for a well-known European advisory firm.
Will the internship at this bank increase my chances of getting a full offer in M&A or should I stay with the advisory firm?
Relevant work experience: 5 months in the M&A division of a German conglomerate focused on industrial and technology targets.

Hey there! Based on the most helpful WSO content, both opportunities seem to offer valuable experience. However, if your ultimate goal is to work in M&A, the internship in Corporate Finance at the advisory firm might align more closely with your career objectives.

In the M&A world, having relevant experience is key. Your time at the advisory firm could provide you with exposure to deal-making, financial modeling, and other skills that are directly applicable to M&A.

On the other hand, an internship in Global Transaction Banking (GTB) at a Spanish bank could offer a broader perspective on banking operations and client management, which could be beneficial in its own way.

In the end, it's about what you feel would provide you with the most relevant skills and experience for your future career in M&A. Remember, there's no one-size-fits-all answer here, it's about what feels right for you. Good luck with your decision!

Thanks for your POV.
The only reasons that I have to go into that WC advisory internship at GTB are 1) Learn how Banking works from inside 2) Try to move to M&A from inside the bank.
I amone of those passionate individuals about M&A strategy and CF, so I think I should go to this Big 5 gig in CF and make my way from there.
I would further improve my skill set until I have the C2 German they ask in M&A (Currently B2/C1)

It's not really easier to move from inside the bank if the role isn't directly relevant, you're better off doing a relevant job outside the firm. and GTB is so far away from M&A that you might as well be working for a different company. These banks are huge and divisions work in their own silos, you wouldn't really have much interaction or advantage when applying to IB.

It's a totally fine internship, but if those are your main reasons + you already have a corp fin internship you're excited about I would stick with that
