Is Asia Pacific and EMEA more open to online applicants?

Hi, I have a question with regard to online applications vs resume drop.

I attend a semi target (Cal, Michigan -non business). I have always heard that if a firm is not at the school doing resume drop, the chance is minimal because they barely read the online apps. I am just wondering if this is only true for Americas region.

I have applied online for a couple BBs that don't post outside of the business school here. I applied to all APAC, EMEA and US. It's been less than 5 days and I have already received 3 interview requests from APAC and EMEA and none from the US.

I am wondering, is the "target school only and you are doomed if you applied online" thing only true for AMRS?

do you have to be fluent in the host country's language to obtain an internship there? such as being fluent in mandarin to get an IBD internship in shanghai...

both.

GS beijing needs you to speak mandarin(well, it's "recommended")

Barcap, Nomura, JPM, ML,UBS HK all require mandarin ( UBS is the only one tested me on it, but the rest of the banks still require it. They didn't test me on it because I was from Asia anyways)
