Is Buy-side Even Possible?
Stats: Non-target, non-diversity, GPA is definitely not special. (Striking I know)
I am interning at a top BB this summer in a mid-to-low bucket. I am not as passionate about IB as I am about investment analysis, but I have had zero opportunities from a buy-side perspective. I have networked extremely hard and am going to grind for a hopeful FT offer from my internship. My school has limited alumni and I have no family relationships in the industry.
I've offered to work for free during my school year and winter no one has taken me up on my offer.
All I can think about is beginning a career I will not enjoy.
Does anyone have advice going into my senior year of undergrad to try to graduate with a buy-side offer?
You're in a top bank…just grind out banking for two years I don't see the issue. It's taking me ~4 years post grad before I see myself with a buy side gig. Two years is nothing just focus on the return offer
Not everyone loves what they do, grind for a couple of years and then move into PE. It's the only option, unless you land something out of school
