Is Calculus & Stats an absolute necessity for IB?
To be completely honest, I have never taken Calc or Stats. I am a rising sophomore in college, and have interned at a boutique IB and solid with technical skills. I am not an econ or finance major either. Will the absence of calc & stats on my resume prevent me from being hired at a bank for a summer analyst position in 2 years?
.
Absolutely is not necessary
No
My brother in Christ, 99.9% of the people in this board could not explain you what an integral actually is, let alone tell you what the normal distribution actually is either. So no, you do not need to know anything really to be in IB.
I’m an international affairs major going to a BB next summer from a non target. I dread to know how I would perform in a college level maths class. Absolutely not, no one cares abt course work unless you’re going for a quant position would be relevant there I guess
You will never use that in IB
I have never used anything past addition, subtraction, multiplication, and sometimes division in this job. Use the time to do something you wanna do bro
gonna say you probably don't need it, but having done both calc and stats i would say that the concepts are just generally fundamental to know. stats was the worst class I ever took but both are useful to know. don't see why you wouldn't unless you were too stupid / lazy to imho.
No. “Finance” is 4 function math
