Is it ok to stay at 2 banks for 1 year each?

Lateraled from a BB Capital Markets role to MM IB (think Jef/RBC/WF). Would it be possible to lateral again to a more prestigious BB/EB?

I know staying only 1 year is looked down upon and this is kind of clout chaser-y, but I do want to get the best PE offer possible. Wondering if you all know anything about a route like this. Just curious on y’all’s thoughts.

Fuck man. Idk. It's probably a possible move, but it would look pretty weird when the HH sees three banks on your resume when recruiting for PE associate positions, even if you stay for 2 years at the third one, considering most people only have one bank and not even one year of experience.

I think another thing to consider is if this is even what you want. I get the idea of "clout chasing" as an undergrad or on your first job, but in this scenario you'd be doing 4 years of banking just to become a PE associate. Nothing against that specifically, but if you just want to be in PE because you're truly interested in it, then you can recruit from your current bank, and if it was for money, then that wouldn't make sense because you'd be 2 years "behind" where you could have been and banking pays more nowadays. Is it really worth it? Even then, there's no guarantee you land a PE offer that you couldn't have gotten before.
