Is it possible to move from a finance role at a small/mid company (non-IB) into Investment banking later on?
Is it possible to move from a finance role at a small/mid company or even a large-cap company and move into Investment banking later on? For roles such as corporate finance, M&A, portfolio management, asset management, business valuation, consulting, equity research, sales and trading, hedge fund or private equity. Cause I know it is easier to move from Investment banking into other industries but harder moving in from other industries, so it is better to start at IB if you can secure a role there. I just wanted to know whether it is possible to pivot into IB from other finance roles or from a smaller, lesser-known firm and then move to a bigger firm. Thanks.
