Is it worth doing a double degree for IB?
I'm currently doing a masters in finance at a target European university, not the best tho. I haven't had much luck in IB recruiting sadly. However, I did manage to get an internship at BCG middle east. This internship could be altered into a full-time position if I choose now and start working immediately after the summer. But I realize the problems that working in ME entails, mainly inability to move back to London and no transferablity of skills into a finance field. I'm thinking about doing a double degree program, which my university offers with other target universities in Europe. One of them is HSG (st gallen university) in Switzerland. I'm thinking about going there after my internship, and start recruiting for Offcycles in IB London. With the MBB name on my CV, I could stand out a little more, I reckon.
The alternative plan is to just confirm with BCG I'll take the job and move on.
For context. What do I want long-term? I always thought being at a MM hedge fund was the dream (I also consider ER recruiting). But now its a bit blurry. I'm giving more weight to stability. One thing I'm sure of though - I want to stay in Europe.
Thoughts? Is the double degree worth it?
bump :'(
I did a double degree and now UK IB. Drop me a message if you want
