I understand NYC has the best funnel to MF PE, however, does one even have time to go out / explore the city in a substantial enough way to justify the high rent / taxes of living there?

Place to be for any young person, not just for finance. I would say unless you're at a top 10 sweaty group across the street, you have time to go out 1 night a week at least
