Is my banker bag from a LMM considered a personal item on a Spirit flight???

I am an analyst at a LMM IB firm, and I am flying up to New York on Friday from Atlanta. Unfortunately, as a result of my firm not being able to win any bake-offs, we are not able to fly in luxury. So I am flying Spirit, a firm that recently announced bankruptcy. Therefore, I will be flying to Newark, NJ, instead of LGA or JFK.

I was wondering if my LMM banker bag is considered a personal item (free carry-on). My firm will not pay for a carry on.

For whatever this post is, it brought me back to when I first started and was trying to shoehorn my banker bag into every possible situation to show off.  It's a bag that BARELY fits a pair of shoes (size 13 nbd) and gym clothes but I was trying to use it for weekend trips, etc.  Hysterical.  Just loose computer bouncing around with keys, toothbrush, deodorant, and half a pair of pants.
