Is my MD a grifter? 16 years, 8 firms
Not sure how it’s even possible to move that often and MDs definitely not a rainmaker either.

Just playing the system
Bit of a dirty secret that once you get your hand stamped at the major institutions, you can hop around indefinitely. These people will never be unemployed. The hardest part is just getting in.
Sounds like he's playing the system for as many 1-2 year guarantees he can get. Living my dream.
When does the music stop for folks like these?
when they want (in most cases when they have enough to retire)
Sounds like the grifter I know who lied about working at bear sterns, because no one could check their hr department
theres this guy who was a bartender for laid off depressed bear stearns bankers and realized, I can just say I worked there and its unverifiable.
Many such cases out there if a banker started their career at bear stearns
I get less concerned about bouncing at the junior levels, never know when someone was moving from different product groups, teams, etc.
I think when you get to the VP/Director level, less than a 3 year stint usually signals something wrong, as at some point during your career, you ideally need to start building social capital somewhere
Especially given a few of these firms don’t look like they are around anymore…

Loyalty is overrated anyways
How’s he to work for? Good guy? Brings mandates at all?
Not great, burning out on pitching

dude is probably the world best interviewee and always interviewing
Or incredibly charismatic. I've seen a few people like this in the client services space and many of them are fun to talk to / hang out with. Not your typical boomer boss.
Maybe fun, but not good enough to merit pay high enough to keep him or her in one place
Congrats on Deutsche tech!
Honestly doesn’t seem so bad esp after his VP years seems fairly stable
Wait until you guys learn about S&T
Probably has trouble bringing in deals. Previous designated career counselor in consulting was like this as a junior partner. Great dude, I miss him. Not sure if he's landed a new role yet since getting pushed out.
I mean he has to be somewhat decent if he's MD for that long regardless of the job hopping lol
Reminds me of one of those backup QBs who has ~15 years in the NFL but on 9 teams. Sometimes it's just lucky, you take an open role as they come. Some guys just like to interview and get a rush from thinking about the next role.
A grifter as opposed to what, the people that genuinely do add differentiated insight to their clients’ most complex challenges?
AI can provide better differentiated insight than 95% of bankers nowadays
