Is Non-target Asian Graduate Screwed?
I am an Asian and to be honest, I almost never saw any Asian coworkers in IBD made it with a non-target background. A friend of mine called me today and he is from a pretty decent school. He kind of had a nontraditional route after graduation and would like a IB position now. I wanted to tell him to cold call local boutique IB, but truth to be told, when I did that during my senior, it never worked. Can’t blame anyone, none of those banks has ever hired an Asian before (my best knowledge) and he cannot be included in any diversity program in BB as I am aware of. I know a few people went on and get a master degree for the sell side, but is it the only way out?
shameless bump
I cold called and got my current internship through it. I am not asian, but go to a nontarget. If you hustle and keep networking, everything is possible
Asian Americans from non target do work at IBDs. Are you an international student?
I am not, but he is. I concede international students are in different spots when applying FT. But how much difference does it make when you cold call and try to work as unpaid intern and to get xerox for seniors?
There are definitely asian people from non targets in IB.
