Is remote Work Negotiable?
With ongoing COVID uncertainty regarding returning to the office, can one negotiating remote work? Many of the jobs I am interested in are in NYC, but I have zero interest in moving there - at least in the next year. Txs!

What is the timeline for the job you're applying to? Is it for an immediate start? For a Summer 2021 start?
If it's the former, then I wouldn't be surprised if WFH was mandatory - and would be for a while after that. If you can do your job from home, then when things do clear up, you may still be able to do it from home instead of moving to NYC.
Having lived in NYC, it's not the greatest place, I will admit, but nothing compares to working in the office from a learning standpoint. If you do have the opportunity to work in NYC and do it in person - say, if your job is in NYC for a summer 2021 start - then I would 100% do it. NYC is a great place to be - it is the epicenter for all things financial - so if you can at least bear it for a little while, then I'd do it.
Thanks - not a program hire with a starting class or anything - so assume Fall-ish. I have spent a lot of time in NYC and loved it (to visit) , but for a variety of reasons would want to be able to work remote for at least a year (another major east coast city). Assume companies not put off by that question in this climate?
