Is there such a thing as "overdoing it" and reaching out to too many MDs while interviewing?

Hey everyone,

Is there anyway that you can actually harm yourself by overdoing "reaching out" to MDs who are alumni etc while interviewing at a firm?

For example, let's say I'm interviewing at Bank A, and reached out to an MD alumni before the interview to put in a good word, and now I've interviewed can/should I also reach out to more MDs at the bank who are family friends/alumnis etc? Or will it just be too much?

It's a small firm, assume 250 people in NY office.

Thanks!

He makes a solid point, it doesn't help when you put the phrase in quotes

instead of "reaching out" try "reaching around"

But seriously --> After landing and doing the initial interview additional networking probably isn't going to help move the needle too much. The whole point of networking is to get the interview, and once you have that its on you...however that said it def does not hurt to tell the people you were already in contact with how much you enjoyed the interview yada yada to demonstrate enthusiasm.

Quote happy unfortunately.

I mean, emailing to introduce myself and see if they have insight or advice into better positioning myself for the offer.

Thoughts?
