Is this a regular lateral hiring process?

Ive been applying to banks trying to lateral for forever now. I had a call that went well with a higher up, and he had an analyst reach out for an introduction to the firm. Meanwhile, I receive more and more emails from the team asking for the same interview/introduction (calls at different times though.)

On the call with the first interview, he/she says that each analyst in the certain group will be having this type of interview with me, and they are going to kind of get together about whom each liked after some time.

Can someone give me some more info/what is really happening behind the scenes/anything I can do to help push myself along in the process?
