Is this common (SuperDay)
Recently, I had a superday at a top BB (GS/MS), and in my last interview, the interviewer didn't ask me any behavioral or technical questions. He just wanted to talk about my interests outside of finance. He did answer my questions when I asked him.
Is this common? Was he not interested in me as a candidate? I go to a non-target school, and he went to a top-target (Wharton/Harvard).
Should I read anything into this? I know this may seem like a silly question, but it really has been irking me. As I said, he was my last interview, and I was the last one that spoke with him, then the super day was over, so he may have just been tired of talking about finance and wanted to change it up.

Odds are you are over-thinking this and he wasn't disinterested. He probably just cares about you as a person. A lot of times superdays will have different people play different roles (technical, fit, etc) and he could have just been trying to gauge who you are as a person.
I hope you're right, LHDan. He literally sat down and we just started talking about my interests. I can't even remember if I he asked me to walk him through my resume. He knew what school I went to and etc, but that's because he had my resume, obviously.

No, just trying to hear other people's opinions/thoughts.
Honestly there's not much to say, I mean at most places something like this is common. Whether it's an interview during super day like you experienced, or a dinner/lunchetc where you meet the analysts and younger members of the team, there's some attempt to assess whether you fit in with the organization. If you had a good conversation that flowed well then this is unlikely to make or break you. Certainly there's nothing people on WSO, who did not observe your interview, can say about how this affects your chances.
I've had several interviews at top BBs that went exactly like that. For one of them, we talked about football for 15 minutes straight and I ended up getting the offer. I literally don't think he learned anything about my qualifications but I'm pretty sure he pulled for me because we had a good conversation.
OP, you can kind of just tell when you click/connect well with someone. Some indicators are smiling, laughing, talking about common interests, etc. Anyone with decent social skills should be able to have some sort of sense about how well a conversation went. Interviews are similar to dating, in that aspect.
If you haven't been living under a rock it's pretty easy to figure out if the person you're talking to likes you or not. Social awareness buddy.
And yes, airport tests are the most important part. I would hope when you prepared for ib interviews you found out about the airport tests.
