Is this role FO or BO or maybe MO?
The job title is Leveraged Finance Credit Risk Analyst within the banks IB. I’m currently in commercial banking. Is this a good move? And will I be able to lateral to FO? The interviewer mentioned I’d be able to if I wanted
Risk is MO.
Commercial (I assume is same as corporate) banking is FO.
I would stay in corporate banking unless the offer is much much better in terms of pay.
Imo you shouldn’t trust what the interviewers say
I've seen a few people that made the jump from credit risk (middle office) to front office (typically LevFin or a debt capital markets group). However, I've also seen people make the jump from commercial banking. Think you should try go to directly.
I’m an analyst in WF’s MMB. Commercial banking is incredibly boring to me. My plan is to takE this LevFin credit role, and either jump to FO or transition to private credit. What’s your opinion on that?
Try to go into WF LevFin from your seat directly.
Just to set expectations, you will not be able to go into an investing private credit role from credit risk. Maybe into a portfolio management role (aka buyside credit risk).
I have no interest in WF LevFin because upon speaking with an analyst from the group I learned they do no modeling at all. Which I was completely surprised by. I’ll maintain my current goal of transitioning to FO and then hopefully to private equity
