Ivy League MBA-->IB VP with no prior experience

I recently came across a guy's LinkedIn profile, which suggested that he went straight from an ivy league bschool to IBD VP at a BB? No pre-MBA finance experience. No (listed) internship during MBA either.

What...?

Is this a thing now? Has this been a thing in the past?

He probably just listed his current position rather than all the positions that he has held at his current firm. I know several others who have had several positions at the same firm who have done this.

I see. Most people I know list all their positions so it shows a progression and LinkedIn automatically connects them as subsections under one employer.

But what you said would make sense. Kind of misleading though.
