J1 Visa Sponsorship
Canadian student here seeking an internship in the States for the summer. I know that the firm will sponsor your H1B Visa when it comes to full time employment, but for your summer J1 Visa, do you have to obtain the Visa yourself?
Any information about this process would be much appreciated!
Yup, you have to apply for the J-1 Visa yourself. usually takes about 6-8 weeks to process. You would need HR to provide you with an offer and a job description, along with some additional paperwork that you have to fill out yourself. The process is fairly simple I'd say.
Thanks JYFresh - does the firm have to fill out a training plan form too? Do you if you should send the form to HR or an associate/analyst in the office?
I just got accepted an offer from a BB but they do not provide any immigration assistance to get the J1. Do you have any recommendation on sponsorship agency ?

I just received an offer from a large BB but I am studying at a Canadian university. I have asked the company for immigration assistance but they seem to not provide any for interns. Does anyone have a recommendation on sponsorship agencies for the J1 visa ?
