JP Morgan vs Morgan Stanley
Hi all, New to this forum so apologies if this is in the wrong place! I've been offered (verbally) an internship with Morgan Stanley just before Christmas although the contract still hasn't arrived in the post.
First question is how long should I wait before ringing up and asking about where the contract is? I haven't heard anything since the verbal offer.
Secondly I also applied for a summer internship with JP Morgan, and they've just emailed me asking me to attend an Assessment Centre. Now I'm not particularly keen to go (I have exams coming up I'd rather focus on) especially since I have an "offer" from MS. Do you guys think I should attend this AC? Or should I withdraw my application seeing as I have a verbal offer from MS.
I'm worried about not attending and then my MS contract never comes through by the deadline (I'm not sure when this is).

Call HR - there's no harm in asking.
You've already said you want to concentrate on your exams - going to the JP AC might cause unnecessary stress. Be happy with what you've got!

General rule of thumb, is keep proceeding as if you don't have anything until the ink has dried on the contract.
Go to the assessment centre and take the test. That is what you will do. Once you get an offer from J.P. Morgan (or if you have any other outstanding offers) THEN reach out to M.S. Until then, you don't have any leverage to contact them. Of course, as previously mentioned, it could never hurt to reach out to HR and say something like this:
"Dear Morgan Stanley Recruiting Team,
I was recently extended a verbal offer for a summer analyst role with the IBD division. I have not received any paperwork yet. I have a second round interview lined up with J.P. Morgan this friday. If there is any more information regarding my candidacy, it would be greatly appreciated it.

Well, they're completely different products...Are you interested in macroeconomics or equities in specific?
both seem interesting, rates exotics seem to be more mathematically interesting though.. But I'm wondering about how these two businesses at these firms are expected roughly to do over the next couple years, and what about exit opportunities down the line for either role? etc..
