Just found out I have a managing director in the family

This past week I found out one of my relatives that I do not see very often is a MD at an IB/ER company. I'm currently 25 (just graduated from a no name school), working in IT security (2+ years in IT, 3+ finance/banking customer service), and I've thought about getting into finance/investment banking...now I might have a great chance to get in.

I'm going to talk with him later this week and I was wondering what kind of questions should I ask? I want to make sure I use this time wisely and ask as many questions as possible.

That's so awesome. Just ask exactly what you're doing here. Ask how you can make it into the industry. Even though you may not see him often I'm pretty sure he'd be willing to talk given that he's family.

So far this is what I'm thinking about asking: * Ask how he climbed the career ladder and what his day-to-day is like * Ask his opinion on the current and future job market for IB/ER * Ask how I can get into IB/ER

Would it be to blunt to ask how I could transition my career over to banking and see if his company is hiring? Even if I have to start from the bottom?
