Just got a finance internship as a freshman, how to move forward from here to bag a buyside job?

I'm a freshman from McCombs School of Business and just locked in an internship for Summer 2024. How do I go from here to get a buyside job for the future?

Hats off to you for already getting a summer internship this early.

The most important thing you can do if you want to get the best buy side offers is to get into WSFM next fall. Start prepping before the summer starts. Need to know technicals (accounting, valuation, EV/Equity Value, LBO) for those interviews.

If you can get into that program you can go basically anywhere. Buy side placement has gotten much better from UT the past few years, 2024 SA had a bunch of placement at BX.

Just enjoy your first year though. Time moves by too fast and you’ll miss these days when you’re sweating out on the job.
