LA EBs for Career Bankers
Looking to make the move to LA for personal reasons, and was wondering if anyone has any insight into how the various EB offices are for career progression/development and upwards mobility.

Career Resources
PWP LA is probably the best place for career progression - senior ranks swelled from 1 partner and 2 MDs at the beginning of 2021 to 5 partners and 2 MDs now, and mid-level and junior headcount is incredibly lean, so lots of room up. Seniors at the office are also strong and more importantly actually care about developing juniors.
Rothschild is another expanding group, although it’s not as lean as PWP (and also not as strong, deal flow tends to be more MM focused).
Would avoid Lazard LA - heard that mid-level headcount is pretty packed over there and they’ve recently lost some seniors.
PJT is truly a satellite office mainly created to house a TMT partner but also has some other seniors. I don’t think PJT prioritizes it’s LA office as a place of growth nearly as much as other EBs
Second PWP - familiar with the seniors there and they genuinely care about talent development. The office also does a variety of deal flow (lots of large-cap and mid-cap exposure, cross-border engagements, sponsor and strategic clients, A&D guys do a lot of MM sell-sides, senior partners also do a lot of strategic advisory work for retainer clients). As mentioned above, office is in growth mode so they’re quite lean at the junior and mid-level.
Moelis LA’s seniors also care about developing their mid-level bankers and the office obviously has excellent deal flow and exposure
