Landscape of IB in Austin?
Hey monkeys,
Looking to move with my SO to the Austin area post-MBA, we're getting married soon so life trajectory is pretty set on Austin. Curious to hear about the IB landscape in Austin — obviously lots of PE/GE players mostly (ala Vista), but curious to hear if anyone is familiar with the IB scene down there.

IB scene is mostly senior-heavy shops, off the top of my head I know Navidar has done some cool deals and Scaleview Partners I've heard good things about (both tech-focused). I know there are some other more O&G/Industrials focused shops, but if you're looking at banks I'd make sure there's upward mobility available given the headcount seems to skew towards MD's.
Pretty bad look if you’re at a target MBA program and don’t know there’s roughly zero quality IB shops with junior headcount in Austin.

As a 2 year college student, Dallas and Houston would be my best bet applying for internships?
Depends on where you go to college. If you're in Texas then all of the Houston banks will target you.

Short answer there is none and in that vein austin would be a horrible city to do IB in. Everyone you know there will be working their 35 hour/week tech jobs (or 40 given recent headcount reductions) and be out doing fun stuff all the time while you are stuck churning pointless meeting books.
Vista is obviously big here and a few boutiques. Noticed Fortitude Adv has an open AN position.
Also back in March 22’ I heard that Lazard was rumoured to be opening an office in town but haven’t heard anything about that in awhile.
Heard Cascadia Capital is opening an office in Austin- even offered any SA willing to relocate there for 2023 a guaranteed return offer for 2024.
