Late to applying to London IB summer internships

Just saw that most of the UK IB internship apps have already opened up 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately have been dealing with family stuff and have been AWOL. Is it late to apply now/is it even worth to applying to the BBs that opened two weeks ago?

It's definitely not too late to apply! Based on the most helpful WSO content, many investment banks in London recruit on a rolling basis. This means that applications are reviewed as they come in, and positions can fill up quickly. However, applying as soon as possible still gives you a chance, especially if the application portals are still open.

Here’s what you should do:

  1. Apply Immediately: Even if some banks opened their applications two weeks ago, there’s still a chance to secure an interview if you act quickly. Prioritize bulge bracket (BB) banks and elite boutiques (EBs) that are still accepting applications.

  2. Network Aggressively: Reach out to alumni, current employees, or anyone in your network who works at these banks. Networking can help you stand out, especially if you’re applying late in the cycle.

  3. Focus on Quality: Ensure your application materials (resume, cover letter) are polished and tailored to each bank. Highlight any relevant experience and skills that make you a strong candidate.

  4. Consider Spring Insight Programs: If you’re unable to secure a summer internship, look into spring insight programs. These can often lead to summer internship opportunities.

Remember, even if you’re late, persistence and a strong application can still make a difference. Good luck!

You lose nothing by applying - I also started 2-3w late last year and I think I was out of the running for some of the BBs and EBs, but many places recruit on a semi-rolling basis and I had multiple final rounds and also got an offer.

Don’t give up - there seem to be LOADS of opportunities this year so I’d try and just get through as many as possible and then stay on top of the new ones that keep opening.

Best of luck!!!!
