How about for NY to SF?
Need your background.
similar question, what woudl you need to know?
what experience you have, how long you've worked, what you're looking to move to, etc...?
MM investment banking right now (been here almost 8 months) looking to move to an elite boutique or bulge bracket firm would like to ultimately go to PE or HF.
All the main HH's for buyside firms also do recruiting for banks. Might not be a bad idea to directly hit up any contacts you have at these banks too.
A lot of banks/groups are taking laterals right now
Which banks are and what groups?
Gugg, Perella, and Moelis to name a few. I know a couple groups over at GS were at the end of last year and had a couple buddies get pinged for MS and JPM in the last month or so.
For those that lateralled to a diff bank while working within IB (Originally Posted: 01/09/2014)
How the hell do you guys do it? Seems like whenever I want to prep, something pops up and my Boss seems like he's anticipating me to leave soon so he's grinding me down like no other before the bonus hits the bank. Getting killed here. How do you guys do interviews and do your prepping when you're experiencing? Every single hour feels like a drag in this sh*thole!

I feel the same way man. I guess we have to literally make time. Reduce sleeping.
What bank are you at?
BB IBD Analyst -- Lateraling to another BB? (Originally Posted: 02/10/2014)
I see a ton of posts about lateraling from non-IBD roles to IBD, but I'm curious if anyone here has changed banks/groups at the analyst level, and has advice for making the switch.
I'm an IBD analyst at a top BB, but the group I am in is niche and does not translate well to other finance roles in the way most IBD groups do. Aside from exit opportunities, I'm much less interested in the type of work we do. We cannot apply for internal spots yet, so I think the best career move would be to move banks.
Aside from networking and online apps, is there really any other way to go about this? There are plenty of headhunter emails, but do they also recruit for IBD analyst positions or only buy side gigs? Any color on the process would be helpful.
