Lateral Market 2023?

So I'm at a EB at a Satellite office, and I think I would like to be more in a bigger office, especially given the slower deal flow in M&A right now.

I haven't engaged headhunters because I am not sure what I want to do in terms of PE/Growth/VC/Corp Dev yet, but I want to spent the normal 2 years in IB to grow my skillset. Would lateralling be a process similar to FT recruiting in terms of just networking and trying to get your foot in the door in terms of interviews? I imagine hiring this year is rough esp reading these threads about seniors in college right now struggling for interviews.

Do you think you need 6-8 months of experience at your current firm, I read that in previous threads, but wasn't sure if you perhaps need more in this type of market to be taken seriously. Also for interviews, is it just similar to FT interviews plus deal talk? I'm originally from a non-target transferred to and graduated from a semi-target.

Would love to hear thoughts of anyone in the market for lateral opps or thinking about it.

Thanks!
