Lateraling as an An2, RBC London?

Hi boys and girls,

I've just signed my contract for RBC London as an Analyst 2 as a lateral in Capital Markets to join either next month or the one after that. I had a few questions about RBC and lateraling in general I was hoping some of you could enlighten me upon.

1. As an Analyst 2 incoming mid-year when can I expect to receive my bonus: would I receive a stub whenever bonus date is for analysts, or would I wait out a full year?

2. Does RBC's Analyst program last 2 or 3 years? And could I expect to be pushed forwards to the next rank (so either Analyst 3, Associate 0, or Associate 1, I'm not sure how it would work) at the same time as all the other analysts hear about their promotions or would I be delayed until I'm a year in?

3. How's the food situation at RBC London? Is it good? Is there a breakfast canteen?

4. How about OT Meals, anyone know the policy? is there a gym on site which isn't Equinox?

5. Any advice on the best places to live for getting to work in the city? I've got a place lined up in East-London, it's cheap, but not super convenient, so I'm thinking of eventually moving somewhere else

6. What have the bonus buckets looked like at RBC in Capital Markets looked like recently?

Cheers!

1) you won't receive one - chances are they wont pay you out of your bonus, and if you do receive one, it will be a fraction (ie pro rata) of the full year bonus probably at the lower bucket level (this is how mid year laterals were treated at my bank)

3) Given they have an office in bank so food choices are pretty good - you have loads of places to choose from if you want to eat out (would always be my recommendation as you get to leave the office)

4) you have a 24/7 "the gym" in monument and a pure gym near the folly which is amazing and cheap (for london). I think it is £25 on meals

5) IMO DLR is your friend - commute is easy and cheap and quick and is great during summer (no sweaty tube stations or journeys)

Also drop me a PM -  got a few qns as to lateralling to RBC as well

Ignore username.

1. You'll get a stub in Dec

2. 3 years analyst program - not sure about your specific situation though, I would speak to your hiring manager about this.

3 / 4. Food situation? Yeah there's a canteen but not used by many. Too many food places to count in the area - you won't be short of lunch options. Dinner is UberEats - but must be ordered / eaten at the office - no ordering from home.

4. There are many gyms in the area (walking distance) other than Equinox
