Lateraling/Interviewing for same group a year later?

Interviewed at a top BB in a top group, and it got dinged at the superday last April. They were looking for an experienced analyst at the time, and I was in school with no FT experience. Everyone who I was interviewing against was already FT with at least ~1 year of experience. It was also my first true BB interview ( interned with MM and boutiques before that). Don't think I got crushed, but I definitely did not do too well. Couldn't email the staffer of the group, who intervewed me, and ended up leaving him a quick voicemail thanking him for his time and my interest…feel like that could’ve backfired. Never got any feedback as well.

I am highly interested in that group, and that respective firm. I'm currently in a BB in a different division, and might have the opportunity to interview again get my resume passed along. What are your guys's thoughts on interviewing again a year later? Think they will remember me? Will it leave a negative connotation?

I have a strong connection at the firm, and would not want to blow my chance lateraling to that firm if I'm already at a disadvantageous position because of last year. I prob could interview for a diff position/division but I really want that group. Appreciate the input guys.

Don't think they would hold last year against you. If you go in and crush it, they'll probably be impressed with how you've improved within the last year.
