Is it impossible to get an IB gig with an average target profile in the UK? All the people I know who got in had some prior internship through connections?

I’ve done it myself with an average profile from a target - had a high first but no real internship / leadership positions. A few things I think you must do: ace the tests (>95th percentile), perfectly formatted CV (surprisingly many prospects have many formatting errors) and apply very early.
Ok this pretty much describes me. If you had no leadership positions what experiences did you draw from for behaviourals?
