Less IB Hours Cause of Agentic AI?
Has anyone found a way to work less on a week to week basis by leveraging agentic AI? Or is everyone still doing 80-90 hour weeks consistently?
Codex and Claude Code can really do most of the work for you if you design your agents intelligently.
I work the same hours or more. My bosses and clients know we have AI, and require more and quicker. They have it themselves and now generate way more shit for us to check and parse through.
And no, AI can’t do my job if I just use agents better lmao. Fuck off with that.
Bro is mad he doesn’t know how to create good agents lol
My group literally has a full-time team of forward deployed analysts who were previously bankers doing nothing but creating agents for us. They work with a legit AI consulting firm based out of SF (not McKinsey or EY or some shit).
So, it’s not that I can’t create or use agents - it’s that agents can’t fucking do everything we do lol. The amount of mistakes I catch from AI is wack. Also, people and teams can create some much content (and slop) with AI that it creates more and more work and info to sift through.
I guess when AI can get on calls or meet in person with lenders and investment teams and clients and confidently have answers and responses to all of them then my hours will go down.
I’m not saying AI isn’t helpful because it saves me tons of time doing first passes on things, but overall it just creates more work for me in other areas and functions.
I’m cool to not hear from some back office Barclays virgin anymore, though.
AI will allow you to do even more work in your 100 hour week than ever before
At first it helped trim down the time it took to do stuff but then when everyone caught on (MD) we just started getting tighter deadlines.
Don’t have agents, and not sure how any bank could have an agent with compliance, and what you would even automate vs using a chatbot.
Echoing above that people will just make AI slop for you to review now as well.
no. the expectation will that you can just do more work in the same amount of hours.
when the computer was invented, IB hours did not go down. it is more a culture and "earn your stripes" thing than an analyst needs to do X amount of work per day.
Anyone who thinks an IB analyst will do less work because of AI is an intern or freshman at best.
You work backwards from 2am nights and are required to do precisely as much work as it takes to fulfill your mission - work until 2am.
Did analysts do less work when Lotus123 replaced paper charts? Or when excel came out? Fools
