London Back to The Office?
For anyone based in London, what do the office plans/communications look like?
Starting training in a few months (which will be online) but wanted to get a feel about how many people have started going in and how likely it is that we will be physically in the office by end-August/September
Or are banks completely silent even internally?
GS bankers can go back to office in London since April 6
But how many are going in? Is there an expectation to get everyone back?
You mind telling which bank you’re going? Also starting training this summer but no communication on whether it’ll be online or on site
BB - Sorry don't really see the value in being specific
You are even commenting as anonymous: what's the point of not telling the name, if it's a BB and not a small boutique?
Looks like from June 21st will be going in.
Not BB
Just an assumption based of Boris' plan or has there been any internal communication about this?
No official internal communication but have been told/indicated by managers that as long as there is an easing on June 21st then return to office will start then. Nothing set in stone and as someone above noted, GS and JPM are already welcoming people back into office as of yesterday.
Internally communicated the target to be some time in July
Our offices have been open through lockdown but you needed approval from HR to go (for wellbeing reasons etc.)
Now they're fully open but no one is encouraging us to go in, maybe 10% are in.
I expect more people to go into the office during summer.
My bank (think BNP, Nomura, HSBC, Soc Gen), told us we're now allowed to go to the office if strictly necessary but we have to test + book in advance the desk. Plan is to come back to the office by summer.

My bank (BofA) said “end of summer” for current employees but new hires are not expected in London until octobre.
Hearing September, but nothing is settled (BB).
I think banks will want people in June ish - but people will not want to spend the summer in the office - so September is my guess!
Already being chased by MDs to get back in the office (including scheduled calls where they reiterate that it is “heavily encouraged”). Word from the top is that everyone is expected 5 days a week from June and WFH is only in exceptional circumstances. Not really very happy about it.
Which firm, if you don't mind?
EB / Strong MM - think they can get away with it as less public scrutiny
Honestly as an incoming analyst this would not be a bad scenario. Really don't want to spend the first 3 months online...
