London IB internship secured - am I wasting my time/money thinking about an MFin?

Managed to land an IB SA25 at an EB in London.

More about me - non diversity (asian male) - Semi target (think Durham/Bristol/Bath/Kings)

My CV struggled to make it past even screening rounds at most banks - in spite of having relatively decent experience. I managed to get only 1 interview/AC which I ultimately converted to a SA. Diversity candidates I know from my uni were landing first rounds with much worse profiles.

I chalk it up to my semi target + non diversity background.

My eventual goal is to move to PE, or at least have that door open in case I want to move. I don't see many alumni in PE from my school. Almost all of them have a target masters.

Is doing a 1 yr target masters (oxford mfe/lbs mfa) worth it. Combined with my IB experience, will it help me land first rounds at MF PE?

Also an American Citizen, so will the lack of a target uni hurt in American PE as well?

Cost of masters + opportunity cost is obviously very high, but I don't mind it.
