London Summer 2025 Recruitment Slow?

I’ve heard from several friends at different targets master programs that recruiting has been generally slow. While some students, particularly women, seem to be getting a lot of interviews at my target, the majority, haven’t had even one yet. Is it normal for recruiting to pick up this late for most people? I get that there are strong candidates that will be prioritised, but still most people at a top 5 Programm in Europe having no interviews at all surprised me.

Yeah, I would agree. On average, how many interviews (first rounds) does a typical applicant usually get if they send out 60 to 100+ applications?

Honestly hard to generalise. I am an average to good candidate doing a top master and I‘ve gotten 4 interviews with around 30 applications sent out and expect to have about 6-10 interviews in the end with 1-4 offers hopefully.

Interesting take, I remember reading last year's statistics from the bristol tracker. On average a person needed 68 apps for 1 offer + this year its super competitive when it comes to conversions with 8-10 people fighting for 1-2 spots. According to your prediction 6-10 ACs and 1-4 offers. Sounds like quite a good conversion rate to me, do you have a specific method for preparing and converting the ACs?

BSc student in a Non-UK target. Can confirm its going very slow. I have clubs , one audit internship and one internship in Transaction Services at Big4. Long wait times after hirevues, some places I havent heard from over a month and a half. Applied to several positions with referrals - waiting for weeks. And no I would not say my CV is exceptional but certainly it's competitive. Friends with even stronger qualifications also report not getting interviews and still waiting from some places that opened mid sept.

Its pretty crazy out there...

I have the opposite feeling. Recruitment has been extremely fast and just messed up on so many levels. One BB has filled up nearly half of its SA class (opened in early September).

Honestly can’t imagine that a BB would have filled up so much, maybe if they returned a lot of springs and already gave out diversity offers.

Still for the „normal“ candidate I don’t know any bank that has done most of their recruitment, even though some boutiques will soon have filled up most of their spots.

Mixed feelings about this post, personally at one of the top MSc programs in the UK (think LSE, LBS...) and whilst first ACs and interviews have been out mainly for D&I / Hardcore referral candidates it seems to be slowly picking up for the rest of us, around 1/2 processes in general.

I’m at a second year at a U.K. target on a target course. Have a first year summer internships in M&A. 2 converted spring week at MMs and a non converted BB SW and part time job in M&A. I have not had a single interview /AC at a BB. Didn’t get any interviews at EBs and I certainly do not fail the tests.

I’m so annoyed and cooked- I’ve seen girls at my target get interviews at BBs/EBs and they don’t even know technicals like depreciation of 10£ through 3 statements of how to calculate WACC.

I’ve only been dinged from Evercore and PWP. Is there hope for the other BBs/EBs or is it over already (genuinely asking). GS and JP sent ACs out and UBS has been running ACs for a while, Citi has ran a few ACs and sent offers . I haven’t heard for anything. I don’t think Bank of America has started yet but that’s it for BB/EB.

I’ve had many referrals for many firms for BB/EB but nothing is coming through.

Barclay's did their first AC Oct. 17th. JPM markets sent out a few ACs already iirc
