London summer internships in final year

I saw a lot of posts about putting an intended masters on your cv to be eligible to recruit for summer internships again. I’m not completely sure on how this works, will they ask for evidence of your applications and what if you are unsuccessful in getting a masters offer or as many people do simply lie about applying to a masters in the first place. I’d appreciate any advice or help.

I don't really know anyone who lied about going into a masters program.... lol.

For starters, I personally haven't seen "intended masters" on any CV I've seen, if you're doing a masters you name drop the school otherwise there's truly no purpose of putting it there at all.

What are you going to do when background checks come up? They check everything and would likely expect to see an offer letter

Unfortunate reality is that not every bank accepts final-year students, it's up to you to find out which one and do your own due diligence.

Thank you for the advice. Since master applications happen after the summer internship window, how would you name the uni you’d get into beforehand. Additionally, even if you genuinely do apply, it’s not guaranteed you get into the masters at all or plans could change afterwards. This was the general justification I saw on other WSO posts when putting intended masters.
