Looking for advice--second internship

Hi guys! It's difficult for me to pick my next internship so I hope you can help me decide.

I'm a rising sophomore and aiming for IBD. My first internship was a securities trading position and honestly, I don't like it. Luckily, I applied for two internships and got offers from b

oth. one is an investment banking analyst intern from a small company. Another is a wealth management intern from a better-known company (mostly European business).

I personally prefer the wealth management intern. I really care about the company's reputation and also the tasks of this internship is more client-related so I think I can gain some experience of working with both partners and clients.

I also heard that some recruiters would like to hear stories from different sectors so I suppose the wealth management intern still has some credits in an IBD interview I suppose?

I attached the detailed information and I hope you can give me some suggestions! Thank you.

If you want to end up in IB then take every IB internship that you can. PWM internships actually make you one of the many thousands of students with a PWM internship.

In other words, everyone does PWM and you won’t stand out. An IB internship (even from small boutiques) makes you stand out more. Personally I’ve had no problem networking with a tiny boutique on my resume, so I don’t see the appeal to PWM.

If the PWM internship sounds more interesting then you might consider working in PWM anyways. A lot of investment banking is boring quite frankly - if you can’t put up with it for 3 months then you won’t want to bear through it for 2-3 analyst years
