Honestly not that suprising, especially if you are in a lower CoL area.
I think one of the local boutiques I interned at in school (in DC, which is high CoL) had starting salaries of like $60k or something like that. There will always be people who didn’t break into banking in college and will take the position because they want to use it to eventually lateral, not because of the pay.
I interned for them for free and most of the MDs were incompetent and assholes, but I’m in a top coverage group at a BB now so I guess it was worth it.

I don’t get people on this site sometimes. I played little league baseball and wasn’t even paid while people playing baseball for the Yankees make millions. We both just play baseball!
