M&A Specific Bankers on a Coverage Team
Question to all of those in Coverage teams at a Bulge Bracket:
Does your team have any analysts, associates, VPs or MDs that solely work on M&A projects? i.e. on a Healthcare team, a VP and and MD who only work on M&A engagements and their executions without as much of a focus on origination or relationship management
Conversely, if you're on an M&A team at a Bulge Bracket, are there any bankers that only focus on a particular industry like Industrials or Consumer Retail?

CS does. Typically 2nd year VPs start focusing on a specific industry and they stick with it through MD levels. Im not saying those bankers dont work on any other industry deals ever but they are pretty much siloed into one industry.

i was wondering why my thread was getting no responses then i remembered that most of the posters here are undergrads who have no clue to begin with
Yes I have seen this. Pretty common at higher levels (VP+) from what I have seen. It's basically a double specialization. I've seen DCM + 1 industry, also seen M&A + 1 industry. Seems common, but not necessarily the norm.
